Adolescence
Adolescence is the phase of life when changing from a child to an adult?. It normally starts with puberty and hopefully ends with sexual maturity and entering adulthood?. It takes a long time and it's a lot of work. It's a little like a tadpole becoming a frog or a caterpillar becoming a butterfly.
An adolescent is someone in adolescence. Adolescents are often called teenagers.
