MaleAndFemaleSymbols
The male and female symbols are symbols for the male or female sexes. The symbols were applied to living beings by biologist Carl Linnaeus in the 1700s. He copied them from the ancient symbols for the Mars (for male) and Venus (for female). The web page I'm reading says those symbols evolved from Greek letters, so I guess they aren't meant to represent a man? or woman's body.
