Chlamydia
Chlamydia is an STI and is a bacteria. Most people infected show no symptoms, and when symptoms do appear they can occur several weeks after infection. Symptoms for girls and women may include vaginal discharge? and burning urination. Symptoms for boys and men? may include discharge from the penis, burning urination, and pain or swelling in one or both testes. The infection can spread further inside a woman which may result in infertility? or ectopic pregnancy.
Chlamydia can be spread during penis-in-vagina sex, anal sex, oral sex, or manual sex, and may be transmitted from a mother to a child in birth?.
Preventing chlamydia is done by abstinence, safer sex, and monogamy? (with someone who is not infected).
Chlamydia has a high rate of infection, 4.2% of women have it and 2.7% of men.
Chlamydia is cured with antibiotics. It is not one of the more deadly STIs. If you get chlamydia, go see a doctor and follow his or her instructions.
